The annual Show and Sale showcases a wide variety of geraniums and pelargoniums. It also provides members with the opportunity to sell plants they have propagated throughout the year.

Ivy Pelargoniums (Geraniums)

  • Popularly called climbers
  • Can cover a large area and grow very tall
  • Good ground covers
  • Good for pots and hanging baskets
  • Vigorous growers
  • Resistant to moulds and rust

Zonal Pelargoniums

  • Named after the rings or zones on their leaves
  • Flowers can be single, double, or semi-double
  • There can be 20-50 flowers on each plant

Regal Pelargoniums

  • Spring flowering
  • Large frilly blooms resemble azaleas
  • Thrive in a cool position

Scented Pelargoniums

  • The aromas are amazing
  • Leaves can be used in cooking, potpourri, herbal teas and aromatherapy
  • Flowers are usually very small; some rarely bloom

Fancy Leaf Pelargoniums

  • Zonal or Ivy, they are grown for the colour and variety of their leaves
  • Leaf colours are more pronounced in winter
  • More difficult to grow than other varieties of pelargoniums
  • Require dappled shade to best show their colouring
  • Flowers are mostly single and quite small
