The annual Show and Sale showcases a wide variety of geraniums and pelargoniums. It also provides members with the opportunity to sell plants they have propagated throughout the year.
Ivy Pelargoniums (Geraniums)
- Popularly called climbers
- Can cover a large area and grow very tall
- Good ground covers
- Good for pots and hanging baskets
- Vigorous growers
- Resistant to moulds and rust
Zonal Pelargoniums
- Named after the rings or zones on their leaves
- Flowers can be single, double, or semi-double
- There can be 20-50 flowers on each plant
Regal Pelargoniums
- Spring flowering
- Large frilly blooms resemble azaleas
- Thrive in a cool position
Scented Pelargoniums
- The aromas are amazing
- Leaves can be used in cooking, potpourri, herbal teas and aromatherapy
- Flowers are usually very small; some rarely bloom
- Zonal or Ivy, they are grown for the colour and variety of their leaves
- Leaf colours are more pronounced in winter
- More difficult to grow than other varieties of pelargoniums
- Require dappled shade to best show their colouring
- Flowers are mostly single and quite small
